Deborah Sandy, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified psychoanalyst with an active private practice in Los Angeles. Working with adult individuals and couples, her areas of expertise include treatment of substance abuse, body-image disorders, and eating disorders. Dr. Sandy is also a primary psychotherapist at Bridges to Recovery (BTR), an in-patient, residential facility that specializes in treatment of acute and complex psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Sandy began her psychoanalytic training at the Los Angeles Institute and Society of Psychoanalytic Studies in 2001 and received her psychoanalytic certification in 2015. She taught a variety of didactic courses on Sigmund Freud, Melanie Klein, and Eating Disorders from a Multidimensional Perspective.
Dr. Sandy has written two psychoanalytic papers: “Lars and the Real Girl: Delusion as Transitional Space from Unformulated to Formulated Experience,” and “Countertransference Impasse in the Analysis of Boredom.”
