PCC is proud to announce its role as a participating sponsor in the 2018 COWAP LA Conference to be held November 9-10, 2018, at the Luxe Hotel Sunset.
COWAP, the Committee on Women & Psychoanalysis, was established by the IPA in 1998 to provide a framework for the exploration of topics relating to issues of concern to women, the relations between men and women, masculinity and femininity, as well as issues of concern to men.
COWAP conducts psychoanalytical research into problems concerning the complex relations between categories of sexuality and gender and their implications for psychoanalysis.
COWAP conferences have been held around the world and have delved into the socio-cultural viewpoints of these regions and work to link theoretical and clinical psychoanalytical thinking with the outside world and its problems.
The Los Angeles COWAP Conference will consider the topic of Psychic Survival In The Face Of Misogyny: The Dialectic Between The Internal & External Glass Ceiling.
The goal of this two-day conference is to expand awareness of this issue beyond what is social and political, and explore the personal and internal glass ceiling experience of persevering in the face of misogyny.
The distinguished Program Faculty is headed by Virginia Ungar, MD, the current and first female President of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA) who is a Training Analyst and Child and Adolescent Analyst at the Buenos Aires Psychoanalytic Association. Dr. Unger will be joined by:
