In “On Countertransference: Bearing the Unbearable”, Dr. Dhwani Shah will examine how feelings such as dread, arrogance, dissociation, and shame can both challenge and deepen clinical work. Through theoretical discussion and clinical material, participants will explore how developing the capacity to recognize and work with these difficult emotional states is essential to maintaining an ethical and therapeutic stance. Rather than observing the patient from a safe distance, this program invites clinicians to reflect on their own subjective experiences and how they shape the intersubjective space of the analytic encounter. Join us for an engaging exploration of the analyst’s countertransference and its role in the therapeutic process.
