Core Programs

PCC is a component society of the International Psychoanalytic Association offering training programs in psychoanalysis and child psychoanalysis. We refer to these as “core programs”, courses of study that include a personal analysis, theoretical courses, and clinical cases under supervision. Our core programs are unique in their emphasis on primitive object relations, rooted in the psychoanalytic theories and technique of Sigmund Freud and tracking their evolution in the works of Melanie Klein, Donald Winnicott, Wilfred Bion, and the contemporary British models. Candidates begin their training with a year-long course in infant observation using the Tavistock model.

Graduates of the adult track of the core program earn a Certificate in Psychoanalysis.

Graduates of the child track of the core program earn a Certificate in Child Psychoanalysis. There are two paths to completion of child psychoanalytic training at PCC.
