In the spirit of celebrating achievements among PCC members and candidates, we are pleased to share the good news that Joseph Aguayo, PhD, has been selected as the winner of the Main Prize in the Oxford Winnicott Essay Competition. His essay, The Liberation of Place: Winnicott’s 1962 Lecture Tour of California, will be published on the Oxford University Press website in the next few months. Dr. Aguayo graciously has shared it with our community in advance of publication, and it can be downloaded here: [download id=”19594″].

The judges had this to say:

  • “Well-informed, cogent, and alert to the historical context.  It is clearly high-quality.”
  • “In his quote on DWW’s language as ‘ever playful and adroit’ the author is both accurate and also able to demonstrate his own similar skill with words.”

The prize for this essay contest is “500 English pounds of OUP books, plus a copy of the Collected Works of D.W. Winnicott for an institutional library of your choice.” Dr. Aguayo has chosen the New Center of Psychoanalysis to house the DWW Collection. PCC shares library privileges with NCP.

Congratulations, Dr. Aguayo!
